<About Me>

I committed to graduate from Carroll County High School in Hillsville, VA in 1995. I then went to Wytheville Community College and graduated with my Associates in Education degree in 1998. I continued my commitment to graduate from Radford University in Radford, VA with a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts with concentrations in psychology and English in 2004. After graduating I began working in Montgomery County Public Schools as a special education instructional assistant. I fell in love with the students I worked with and became passionate about pursuing a career as a special education teacher. I again committed to graduate from Radford University with a Master’s degree in special education, high incidence disabilities in 2008. I was able to start teaching in 2006, while I was getting my Master’s degree.

When I’m not at work my favorite thing to do is spend quality time with my family. I also love spoiling my dog Ruby rotten (she’s a 5 lb. Yorkie), watching the VA Tech Hokies play football, traveling, kayaking, and enjoying time with my friends.

I’m passionate about the kids I teach. I believe each student has something special that can be built upon. I strive to motivate them to be successful, while making learning as hands-on as possible and fun. I enjoy making my students laugh and my love for them goes beyond the classroom!
