Ann Mitchell

My name is Mrs. Mary Ann Mitchell. As the new principal, I am delighted to join the Falling Branch Elementary family. This is my fifteenth year in administration. I have served as an elementary curriculum facilitator, a high school assistant principal, and recently as a high school principal for seven years. I have taught grades K-7. I am a lifelong learner dedicated to the field of education.
I committed to graduate from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) in Greensboro in 1991 (Aggie Pride) with a degree in Elementary Education. I continued at NC A&T to pursue a Master's in Reading/Secondary Education (1997) and a Master of School Administration (2009). While serving as a high school principal, I decided to start the Doctoral Program at the University of Greensboro, NC (Go Spartans).
I am from a small rural area in North Carolina called Yanceyville. However, my husband and I have resided in Browns Summit, North Carolina, over the years. Browns Summit is a small suburban town outside of Greensboro, NC. My husband is a Registered Nurse, and we currently reside in Blacksburg. I love traveling, reading, setting up aquariums, and spending time with family.

I aim to connect with the FBE family and community as we will remain the best-kept secret in Virginia.

My email address is [email protected]. Email or call the school if you need assistance or support.

Thanks,

Mrs. Ann Mitchell, Principal
