I committed to graduate from Thomas Jefferson HS in Annandale, VA in 1983.  During high school, I surrounded myself with friends who had the same commitment.  We supported and encouraged each other.  As a Colonial, I played softball, participated in one act plays, musicals, and swing choir.  I was also involved in Young Life, worked part-time at an ice cream parlor, and was active in my church choir.  Participating in these extracurricular activities meant I needed to manage my time and my grades.  When I left high school I continued my education at Virginia Tech.

I graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. I moved to Virginia Beach and taught for ten years.  I stopped teaching while my family moved from Virginia to Ohio, then to Kansas.  However, teaching was my passion, and I knew one day I would return to the classroom.

I began teaching 5th grade at Falling Branch in 2006.  I live with my wonderful husband, daughter, two sons, and our two dogs. I have enjoyed watching my children commit to graduate from CHS and go on to further their education at ODU, VT, and UVA.  When I am not at school, I love to spend time outdoors with my family.  I enjoy reading, yoga, hiking, and biking.

I hope to build self-confidence and a passion for lifelong learning in my students.   I look forward to applauding as they cross the stage at CHS to receive their high school diplomas.
