I committed to graduate from Christiansburg High School in 1983. I attended Christiansburg Elementary, Christiansburg Middle (the old one), and Christiansburg High School. I loved school so much and always knew I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. In order to accomplish that goal, I committed to graduate from Radford University in 1987 in Elementary Education. I have taught in Montgomery County Public Schools since August, 1987 in second and third grade. In December, 2013, I was able to fulfill a personal goal of earning my Master’s Degree from Radford University in Educational Leadership. I consider myself a life-long learner and enjoy reading and learning about new trends and ideas in education.
I live in Christiansburg with my husband, Bobby, and son Lucas, who will be a senior at Auburn High School in 2015. My daughter, Chelsie, attends VCU in Richmond, where she is working on her Doctorate of Physical Therapy graduate degree. I enjoy reading, shopping, and working on the computer. I also LOVE teaching third grade! After teaching as many years as I have, all in Christiansburg, I am starting to teach second generation children. There is something special about hearing a student say, “You taught my mom!”
